Burning Permits:  Contact our office at 616-754-5053 to obtain a burning permit.  If you have previously obtained a burn permit you may call the hall on weekends and leave a message with your name, address and telephone number on voicemail .  You MUST Contact Central Dispatch to report your burning before you burn 
at: 616-225-8500.

Zoning Permits:   Find out how your property is zoned and obtain Site Plan Approval Permit for new construction and/or remodel.

If you are planning to build in Eureka Charter Township, you must submit a Site Plan Approval Permit to our Zoning Administrator.  Building permits may then be obtained from the Montcalm County Building Department.

MULTIPLE PARCELS If paying on two or more parcels, you may combine all amounts in one check and mail in one envelope with all payment coupons.

Tax Information:  BS&A Online

SUMMER TAXES: are mailed on July 1st of each year. They are due no later than September 14th, after that one percent interest is added per month. As of March 1st you must contact the Montcalm County Treasurer to pay the delinquent taxes. 

WINTER TAXES: are mailed on December 1st each year. They are due no later than Feb. 14th. Penalties and interest will be applied to taxes unpaid as of March 1st, you must contact the Montcalm County Treasurer if your taxes are not paid by this date. 

OWNER OF RECORD:
All tax bills are mailed to the Owner of Record. If your taxes are escrowed, you should send your tax bill to your mortgage lender immediately. Most mortgage companies contact us for amounts, if you are unsure, contact your mortgage company.

DOG LICENSE:
NEEDS TO BE PURCHASED AT MONTCALM COUNTY TREASURER’S OFFICE CALL 989-831-7334 OR GO ONLINE AT www.montcalm.org/government/county_treasurer for application.

Voter Registration:   To confirm your registration you may come into the Eureka Township Hall during business hours Monday through Thursday or visit www.michigan.gov/vote.

Voting/Election Records:   Call the Township Hall on Monday through Thursday for information.

 

Cemetery:

For Residents (per burial space) $100.00
For Non-residents (per burial space) $400.00

Plowing for winter will be billed to the family, by the funeral home.  This fee may be waived by the discretion of the Sexton.  Extra fees may apply due to extenuating circumstances i.e…boulder removal, trees, etc.. and are at the discretion of the Sexton

NOTICE CONCERNING EUREKA TOWNSHIP CEMETERY

Section 9.0 Ground Maintenance Rules of the Eureka Township Cemetery Bylaws states the following:

The Township and Sexton shall have the right and authority to remove and dispose of any and all growth, emblems, displays or containers therefore that through decay, deterioration, damage, or otherwise become unsightly, a source of litter or a maintenance problem.

All refuse of any kind or nature including, among others, dried flowers, wreaths, papers, and flower containers must be removed.

Please have the mentioned items removed by April 1 of each year for Spring Cleanup and by October 1 of each year for Fall Cleanup.  After those dates, the rules will be followed and items will be removed from cemetery graves. See additional rules and regulations listed below.

EUREKA TOWNSHIP CEMETERY
Rules and Regulations

  • All flowers and plants (real or artificial) must be contained in a pot or urn and must be within 12” of headstone.
  • The tribute area within the boundary of a grave may only include a monument, marker, urn, floral display, weighted small novelty statue, and/or other approved adornments. Only two (2) items are allowed within the tribute area.
  • No glass containers are to be left in the cemetery.
  • Floral ground displays such as a wreath or funeral spray may be left on a grave following a burial for up to twenty-one (21) days.
  • All temporary vegetation, flowers, and plastic flowers must be removed by April 1 for Spring Cleanup and by October 1 for Fall Cleanup.
  • Planting of trees, shrubs, flowers or plants is prohibited on a burial site.
  • Only small granite benches may be used.
  • Grading, leveling or excavating is prohibited on a burial site.
  • The Township or Cemetery Sexton has authority to remove all unauthorized, faded, or damaged items from grave site.
  • The Township is not responsible for items left in the cemetery.

Landfill Vouchers: Eureka Charter Township has moved to a year round system to help with Township Clean Up.  Vouchers for 2 visits per year to Pitsch Sanitary Landfill will be provided to Eureka Charter Township property owners. Vouchers are available to property owners at the Township office Monday – Friday, 9 am to 1 pm.  Please bring proof of ID with Township address or proof of ownership of property (driver’s license, tax bill, etc.)

Police/Sherriff:   Contracted to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department      Central Dispatch  616-225-8500.

Road Repair/Maintenance:   Contracted to Road Commission for Montcalm County in Stanton.

Tax Collection:  Call the Township Hall on Fridays during business hours and ask for Treasurer, Cindy Hanson or Deputy Treasurer, Deb Carnahan.  You can also go to bsaonline.com to look up your tax information online.
